We work hard at Goblin Combe to provide challenging and stimulating programmes that take learning outside of the classroom. We are committed to providing high quality programmes at a cost that is affordable whilst maintaining high standards of delivery and safety.
Goblin Combe has a long history of working with people who are socially excluded and disadvantaged or experience barriers to engaging fully in education. Our tutors use the natural environment and positive activities within it to provide positive learning experiences that will in turn reduce exclusions, improve attainment, and attendance.
Goblin Combe is able to offer personalised learning packages, within the programmes offered, that are responsive to the changing and varied needs of learners. We are able to respond quickly to referrals and provide evidenced outcomes for children. The progress of all learners involved in our programmes is evaluated daily and we provide detailed feedback to schools, parents and other agencies involved with the education and welfare of children as appropriate.
Our alternative provision programmes are as follows. You can find more information by clicking here.
Transition: This programme is designed to support learners who are making, or have just made the transition from primary to secondary school. Whilst it is particularly suitable for learners who may find the transition difficult, this programme is suitable for all children in year 6 and 7.
Forest School: This programme is designed to support KS1 & KS2 learners who are struggling to realise their full potential. Whilst attendees typically demonstrate low levels of personal confidence, self esteem and/or limited academic achievement, the programme’s flexibility allows it to be adapted to cater for all ages and levels of ability. Learners are encouraged to guide their own learning and make positive choices.
The Wonderful World of Water: This programme is specifically designed for socially and emotionally vulnerable KS1 learners who are struggling to realise their full potential. The programme is designed to be delivered over an extended period of either two days a week for a term or one day a week for two terms.
Fishtastic!: Fishtastic! is a fishing programme designed for KS2 learners who are struggling to realise their full potential. This flexible programme can be delivered either one or two days a week for a term. Sessions will take place at a local fishing lake that has been used by Goblin Combe for fishing programmes for several years. The lakes are a therapeutic and peaceful environment that encourages even those who have particular difficulties with settling and concentrating to relax and engage.
