Our land-based work programmes have been designed to support customers to develop the skills and confidence necessary to deliver community and land-based services and re-enter employment. In order to reduce the waiting time for customers wishing to access our programme we operate a ‘roll on/roll off’ programme as well as fixed six- and 12-week programmes the content of which is determined by seasonal and weather conditions.
Programme Objectives
- To help customers to develop their confidence and self-esteem and raise aspirations through the achievement of tasks
- To encourage appropriate and positive interactions with peers
- To develop trust and a sense of responsibility towards themselves, others and the environment
- To develop new practical skills and understand and manage risks
- To provide customers with the opportunity to acquire a range of employment related qualifications
- To help customers to identify their own strengths and weaknesses
- To introduce a range of employment opportunities in the land-based sector
Programme Accreditation
We are able to provide customers with opportunities to access a range of qualifications which are designed to support their entry into land-based occupations or which are transferable within the wider job market. Our qualifications include the following:
- John Muir Award
- Customer care & Conflict Resolution
- ASDAN Personal Effectiveness
- Outdoor safety and first aid
- Manual handling
- Health and safety in the workplace
- Basic food hygiene
- Fire safety awareness
- COSHH
- Practical Conservation Award
We work closely with partners including the City of Bristol, Weston and Norton Radstock Colleges to ensure that the qualifications we offer to customers make a real contribution to their future employability.
